The 2007 CHLI Future Leaders' Conference at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) was the first full day conference of its kind in Washington, DC to unite student leaders aged 18-25 to discuss critical issues relating to the U.S. Hispanic community and the Hispanic population throughout the Western Hemisphere. The conference offered students the opportunity to discuss current events and issues with top policy makers, analyze concepts, and then implement their new skill.
Following the success of the 2007 CHLI Future Leaders' Conference, the Inter-American Development Bank and CHLI once again partnered n to bring the CHLI Future Leaders' Conference to Miami, Florida for the Board of Governors of the the Annual Meeting of the Inter-American Development Bank and the Inter-American Investment Corporation on April 4, 2008. During this important meeting, the IDB Youth Program hosted 100 Agentes De Cambio (Agents of Change) for a parallel set of meetings, programs and leadership development seminars. The opportunity to unite the Agentes De Cambio with student leaders from the South Florida community allowed CHLI to develop an open dialogue on key issues facing the U.S. Hispanic community from a public policy perspective, as well as from a leadership and career development perspective.
The Second Annual CHLI Future Leaders Conference: "Advancing Democracy & Strengthening the Rule of Law in the Americas" will be held on July 16, 2008 at the Organization of American States (OAS) and will provide students with an opportunity to network with national and international leaders, meet government and corporate executives, and learn about exciting careers in Washington, DC.
