The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute
Welcomes Its Fall 2013 Global Leaders
Internship and Fellowship Program Participants
Washington D.C.The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) and The George Washington University's Semester in Washington Politics Program welcomes the new class of the CHLI Global Leaders Internship & Fellowship Program for the Fall 2013 Semester.
The Global Leaders Internship & Fellowship Program is a 15-week prestigious internship program that takes place in the spring and fall semester each year. This program allows undergraduates and graduate students, along with recent graduates to work in Congressional and corporate offices in Washington D.C. The participants also earn academic credit hours from the George Washington University. In addition, participants will work on project-based programs that provide hands-on experience and strengthen their understanding of Public Policy.
During the first half of the semester, participants are placed in Congressional offices. In the past, CHLI Interns and Fellows have worked with Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Congressman Henry Cuellar, Congressman Albio Sires, Senator Rob Portman, as well as with our Chairman Lincoln Diaz-Balart during his time in Congress. For the second half, participants will have the opportunity to work with Fortune 500 corporations in their Government Affairs/Federal Affairs offices in Washington, D.C.
Greg Lebel, Director of Semester in Washington Politics at GW, said, "The breath of experiences and perspectives to which students are exposed only enhances the value of their academic experience here at GW. "The Semester in Washington Program is not only a great way to earn class credit but it considerably complements anyone's internship experience in D.C.," Professor Lebel stated. Miguel Loeza, a graduate of the 2013 Global Leaders Internship and Fellowship Program added "The semester was a great hands on experience in Washington, DC. I learned, worked and lived politics through the CHLI Global Leaders Program."
We are thrilled to welcome our Fall 2013 class of Global Leaders Fellow. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals to experience Washington D.C. firsthand. The combination of  Congressional, corporate, and political management courses at GW will enable program participants to expand their academic development, gain professional experience, build on their leadership skills, and establish networks. "CHLI is proud to continue the tradition of developing global leaders and promoting diversity at all levels of our society." said Mary Ann Gomez, CHLI's Executive Director.
The CHLI Global Leaders Internship & Fellowship program is graciously sponsored by Altria, Comcast/NBC/Telemundo, General Motors, and Walmart.
