CHLI Announces New Board Members and Officers

Washington, D.C. - The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) is pleased to announce two new members to its Board of Directors: Mr. Juan Carlos Gutierrez, Group Vice President at Oracle Consulting, and Mr. Nicolas Perez Stable, Vice President & Counsel at General Electric (GE).  Furthermore, CHLI congratulates Ms. Belinda Garza, Vice President of Government Relations and Public Engagement, Univision Communications Inc., on her election as Secretary of CHLI's Executive Leadership.

Juan Carlos's expertise in business and technology consulting has been constantly recognized in the U.S. and Latin America. Recognized as one of the Most Influential Hispanics in Technology by Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine, he has been also selected in 2009, 2010 and 2011 as one of the HITEC 100 IT executives by the Hispanic IT Executive Council. These awards are given to the top Hispanic executives in the U.S. in recognition for outstanding accomplishments and contributions in the IT Industry.  Mr. Gutierrez served on the CHLI Corporate Advisory Council for two years and has been an active member of the CHLI Communications & Marketing Committee.

Nicolas is active in government relations efforts in the aviation industry and the Hispanic community.  As Co-Leader of the GE Hispanic Forum's External Outreach Initiative (a company-wide appointment made in 2009), Nicolas works to strengthen the ties of GE's Hispanic employees to community organizations and government officials by promoting policy issues that affect Hispanics through scholarship and grant programs, community service initiatives and special events related to education. Nicolas also serves as the GE Developing Health City Champion for New York City, coordinating volunteer engagement and grant administration at four local community health centers.  Mr. Perez Stable served on the CHLI Corporate Advisory Council for five years and assisted in the development of the CHLI Public Policy Committee.

Belinda Garza joined Univision Communications, Inc. in October of 2013 where she serves as Vice President of Government Relations and Public Engagement.  In this capacity, she manages political relations in Congress and in key state capitols, and will work to extend the Company's presence with non-traditional stakeholders, such as business and trade associations, think tanks, and a range of federal and state agencies.  Prior to joining Univision, Belinda was Director of Federal Government Relations for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc, where she spent over a decade representing the company's interests in Washington, D.C.   She is a founding member of the Hispanic Lobbyists Association, has served on the board of the Capital Area Food Bank and volunteered with local non-profits in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.  Belinda has been a member of CHLI's Board of Director's since 2009.

CHLI's Board of Directors, the governing body for the organization, is led by its Chairman, former Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart. The Board of Directors sets the focus and direction, and provides support to staff. The Institute's board members include Members of Congress, corporate executives, and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents.

"I am pleased and honored to welcome Juan Carlos Gutierrez and Nicolas Perez Stable to the CHLI Board, and I congratulate Belinda Garza on her election to the Executive Leadership team.  I welcome their wisdom, experience, and leadership.  I look forward to working with them as we continue to advance CHLI's mission and develop more young Hispanic leaders to serve our communities.  Thank you for your commitment," said Chairman Lincoln Diaz-Balart.
