Congressman Albio Sires of New Jersey

Joins CHLI Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, DC – – Congressman Albio Sires, representing the 13th district of New Jersey, is the newest member of the Board of Directors for the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute, a non-profit organization in Washington, DC whose mission is to advance the diversity of thought in the U.S. Hispanic community.

"CHLI is delighted to have the unique insight and experiences of Congressman Sires on our Board of Directors,” said Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart (FL-21). "As we reflect the diversity of thought of the U.S. Hispanic community, we are grateful to have the brilliant perspective of Congressman Sires on our non-partisan Board.”

Congressman Sires represents the 13th district of New Jersey. He serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Before being elected to Congress in 2006, he was the first state legislator of Hispanic origin to be named New Jersey Speaker of the General Assembly, and the first Cuban in the Nation.
