CHLI and FAES Sign Agreement in Madrid, Spain
To Establish Formal Collaborative Relationship
Madrid, Spain – Today, May 28, 2009, the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI)
signed a formal Memorandum of Understanding with the Foundation for Social Studies and
Analysis (FAES for its initials in Spanish) to officially establish a collaborative relationship.
CHLI Founder and Chairman Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart was in Madrid to sign this
important MOU with José María Aznar, Executive President of FAES and Former Prime Minister
of Spain.
The announcement was first made on May 13, 2009 when Mr. Aznar was in Washington, DC to
accept a prestigious award from the U.S. Hispanic community.
The Memorandum of Understanding will link the two not-for-profit organizations for the
development of programs and the establishment of joint projects to benefit both organizations
and build closer relations between the U.S. Hispanic community and Spain.
“We are honored to work alongside such a prestigious organization led by a remarkable
international statesman, José María Aznar,” said CHLI Founder and Chairman Congressman
Lincoln Diaz-Balart.
FAES Executive President José María Aznar was honored by CHLI with its 2009 Leadership in
International Relations Award at the CHLI 5th Annual Gala & Leadership Awards held May 13,
2009 in Washington, DC. This Award was established by CHLI to recognize leaders who work
to deepen the relationship between U.S. Hispanics and the international community.
