CHLI Hosts a Special Forum on Puerto Rico: Can the Private Sector
Save Puerto Rico?
Washington, D.C. - On Tuesday, February 9, 2016, CHLI hosted a special forum on the economic crisis in Puerto Rico, and how it affects the island on different levels.
Moderated by Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association President, Carlos Rivera-Velez, leaders of the Private Sector Coalition spoke on the problems the economic status caused on healthcare, education, trade and more.
Panelists included, Chairman of the Board and President of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce, Jose Vasquez-Barquet; President of the Puerto Rico Products Association Ramon Perez Blanco; President of the Society of Certified Public Accountants, Zulmarie Urrutia Velez; Executive Vice president of the Chamber of Marketing, Industry and Food Distribution, Manuel Reyes Alfonso; President of the Professional College of Engineers and Land Surveyors of Puerto Rico, Ralph Kreil Rivera; and Executive President of the Puerto Rico Hospital Association, Jaime Pla Cortes.
Once the panel finished with their points of discussion, members of the audience lined up for a Q&A session. The questions came from people ranging in age, backgrounds and from different educational institutions.
