The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) and George Washington University (GWU) offer an opportunity for academic credit

A semester program that provides undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in the Hispanic community unique insight in public policy.

Washington, D.C. - The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) and The George Washington University (GW) Semester in Washington Politics Program invite qualified undergraduate and graduate students from the United States and Puerto Rico to apply for the CHLI Global Leaders Internship and Fellowship Program for the Fall 2012 Semester in Washington, D.C.

Students will acquire hands-on experience and also strengthen their understanding of public policy and corporate government relations.  Through a 12 to 15 week program (one semester) students will work closely with Congress and respected corporations in Washington D.C., and also earn academic credit hours.  Students will be provided with round trip airfare to and from where they reside, a monthly transportation stipend, a $2,000 living stipend, matriculation and housing for GW for the semester.

The fall program begins August 28, 2012 and concludes December 21, 2012.   Greg Lebel, Director of Semester in Washington Politics at GW, says, "The breadth of experiences and perspectives to which students are exposed only enhances the value of their academic experience here at GW.”  "CHLI recognized my potential and my desire to strive,” says Maria Luque, Spring 2010 CHLI Global Fellows, who feels "very fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in such a holistic and remarkable program.”
