Washington, D.C. — The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) strongly supports a legislative path to permanent legal status in the United States for the “Dreamers” (including DACA beneficiaries) – individuals who were brought to the U.S. as children by decision of their parents.
Washington, D.C. - The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) held its 6th annual Trade & International Affairs Symposium: Exploring New Horizons for Global Trade, on October 3, 2017, at The Embassy of Canada, in Washington, D.C. The CHLI Trade & International Affairs Symposium brings together international business leaders, experts on trade, members of the diplomatic community, foreign ministers and U.S. government officials to discuss trade issues and international affairs that affect U.S. global competitiveness.
As we wrap up Hispanic Heritage Month, we extend a heart filled thank you to one of CHLI’s key founders, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen was the first Hispanic woman ever elected to Congress. Having been born in Havana, Cuba, Ileana fled the oppressive Castro regime at the age of eight, with her family.
CHLI Community Relief and Recovery Efforts for Those Affected

The first stop of the tour convened distinguished civic and community leaders, experts in workforce development and student leaders to discuss educational opportunities, career strategy and tools for the economic advancement of U.S. Hispanics and Latinos.

The tour will kick off at the Los Angeles City Club in Los Angeles, California, on August 29, 2017, and continue on to San Antonio, Texas, and then wrap up in Las Vegas, Nevada.
