Rudy Vargas, a native of Whittier, California, serves as the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute’s Finance Director. Rudy’s primary responsibilities include collaborating with the accountants to maintain and improve CHLI’s Fiscal health; and working with President & CEO, Mary Ann Gomez Orta, to be in accordance with best Financial Operating Practices. He graduated from The University of the Potomac with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. Rudy aspires to further his career in financial analysis with philanthropic organizations.
Rudy began his journey with CHLI as an intern contributing to projects like the expansion of the Global Leaders Program and the revamping of the organization’s website. His time with CHLI was extended as his expertise proved to be integral to those projects and more. He was then hired on part-time as the Administrative & Operations Assistant. Through his dedication to the diversity of thought, he was brought on full-time and was promoted to the Executive Administrative Assistant. After one year of assisting the President & CEO on day to day operations and finances, he was promoted to the Administrative & Operations Manager and after 8 months in this role, he was promoted to CHLI’s first Director of Finance where he is committed to ensuring CHLI’s finances are in the best shape possible.
